Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
I hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine today.
Award season is in full swing, and I’m excited to highlight some recent A&S honorees.
Dr. Anne Stevens and Tara Clapp recently received the Innovation Award from the Association of Psychology Training Clinics. This prestigious award honors meaningful innovations that positively impact training, research, and service in member clinics. They were recognized for developing training and service delivery programs that serve adjudicated and/or at-risk youth, while also providing psychology graduate and undergraduate students with unique mentorship and service opportunities.
Dr. Ryan Williamson was honored with the Presidential Scholarly Achievement Award
for Early Career Faculty.
Several of our faculty members were selected as PIE Award recipients, including Harvey
Hix, Eric Nigh, Kate Northrop, Amanda Sikirica, O’Neil Jones, Shelby Shadwell, Cheyenne
Hume, Jason McConnell, and Matt Gray.
Congratulations to all our honorees! There will be many more to come over the next
month.
Last Friday, we had a great turnout for the annual Three Minute Thesis competition, where Ph.D. students tackled the challenge of presenting their research in just three minutes using one slide. It was a fun and informative afternoon. Thank you to Interim Associate Dean Wodahl for organizing the event. Congratulations to the following winners of the event:
1st Place: Annyher Reyes Ayala – Psychology
2nd Place: McKenna Litynski – Anthropology
3rd Place: Jaylan Aliev – Psychology
People’s Choice: McKenna Litynski – Anthropology
On Monday, Staff Appreciation Day was held in the Arena Auditorium. During the festivities, Director of Business Operations Carlee Hughes received the True Grit Award. I want to send out a huge thank you to all of our staff. I’m grateful for all you do—thank you for being such an integral part of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Next week, please join us Wednesday, April 17, at 3 p.m. in the Union Family Room for the Spring All College Meeting. We’ll recognize staff and faculty, and I’ll deliver the State of the College Address. If there are any topics you’d like me to include, please let me know, and I’ll see if we can incorporate them into the presentation.
Thank you for everything you do to support our students as we head into the very busy, final stretch of the semester.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Adrienne Freng
