Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
Spring made a brief appearance last week—but it looks like winter may be staging a comeback!
This past week has been filled with recruitment activities, including New Student Days on Friday and Discovery Days on Saturday. Thank you to our new College Relations Representative, Megan Moma, who engaged our prospective students with information on the College of A&S through departmental bingo. The students had the chance to talk with a variety of departments to achieve a bingo to be eligible for prizes. Additionally, thank you to our advising team for helping our new students get registered for fall classes!
I also had the pleasure of attending the Art Museum Gala this past week. While the museum is not officially part of the College of A&S, we have several meaningful collaborations with them. It was wonderful to support their work and see the creativity that went into the event.
Earlier this week, Farrell Rapp and Liz Nysson from the Research Office came and presented to our new faculty. Thanks to both of them for discussing the services that the Research Development Office offers and the process of pre-award for grants.
Yesterday, we hosted our All-College Meeting. I talked about the change we’ve experienced lately—and the continuity I hope we’re still feeling through it all. We concluded by celebrating many of this year’s award winners. Congratulations to all!
Another new initiative that I highlighted at the All-College Meeting was our RFPs for professional development for staff. While we have long supported these opportunities for faculty and students, we are incredibly excited to expand the possibilities to our college staff.
While we recognized many folks yesterday, I want to take this moment to acknowledge the incredible contributions that everyone makes to their departments and the college. Our strength as a college comes from the collective effort from all of us! Thank you for all you do.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Adrienne Freng
