Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
This week I am thrilled to return to my role as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences following a short term as Interim Provost to support the institution during a time of transition. I am grateful for Dr. Adrienne Freng’s leadership as Interim Dean during this time, as well as leaders across our college who have stepped up to move us forward.
The College of Arts and Sciences remains core to the mission of the university and the state, and it is more important than ever that we reiterate and demonstrate our value to current and potential students and statewide stakeholders. In the coming weeks and months I look forward to re-engaging with all units in our college to learn more about the good work you have been doing. I am also interested to learn about areas where we can improve. We must all assess what we do to ensure we are doing all we can for our students and the state. Working together we can achieve great things.
I am more excited and committed than ever to our work in the social sciences, humanities, and the arts. We provide a significant return on investment for our students and the state. Our summer is quickly wrapping up and before we know, our students will be back. I am looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Sincerely,
Scott Turpen
