Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,

I want to begin by congratulating this year’s Staff Extraordinary Merit Award winners: Kate Lubsen, Crystal Hill, Alex Soto, Lilly Gardner, and Vicki Nelson. Thank you for the care and professionalism you bring to your work each day. This recognition is well deserved! I also want to thank all of our tremendous staff across the college. You are essential to the work we do and I appreciate your efforts.

I’m also delighted to share that Assistant Professor of Anthropology Allison Mann has been selected for a 2026 Presidential Scholarly Award for Early Career Faculty. This is a significant honor that reflects her impressive scholarship. Congratulations, Allison!

A reminder that we will hold our all-college meeting this Monday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room. We will celebrate all staff and faculty award winners, and I encourage our award winners and their colleagues to join us.  I will also share an update on the college.  Immediately following the meeting, please join us for a celebratory showcase highlighting research and creative accomplishments from across the college. It will be a great opportunity to recognize the outstanding work happening in A&S and to connect with colleagues.  We are striving to host events such as this that brings us together as a college for celebration and discussion.  I hope you will join us.

Finally, UW Theatre and Dance's 1990s-inspired reworking of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing opens this evening. The production runs Friday-Saturday, April 10-11, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday, April 16-18, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 12, at 2 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theatre. Tickets are available at www.tix.com/ticket-sales/uwyo/6984.

Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,
J. Scott Turpen
