Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts & Sciences,
Welcome to the spring semester. It’s been so great to interact with our students, staff, and faculty as our semester has gotten underway.
I'm delighted to introduce two new staff members to the A&S Dean's Office. Skyllar Schoening is an Office Associate, Senior, joining us after previously working in the Ross Hall Shared Staff Center and the Advising, Career, Exploratory Studies (ACES) office. Skyllar has a BA from South Dakota State in Communication Studies and Theatre. Chris Murray is an Office Associate, working in History in the mornings and the Dean's Office in the afternoon. Chris is an A&S graduate, with a BA in Art and concentration in Graphic Design. Welcome!
A couple weeks ago I spent the day in Casper meeting with leaders and making connections for the college. As a highlight of the visit, I was invited to give an A&S presentation to the Monday Rotary of Casper. It was an excellent opportunity to share the good work of the college and answer questions community members had.
Last week I had communication with leaders at Freie Universitat Berlin to discuss ideas to deepen faculty collaboration and potentially expand student exchanges. These collaborations can have real benefits for our students and faculty. A&S has already had some excellent collaboration here and we wish to increase this work. I anticipate we will have more information on this soon.
Finally, we have a variety of great events coming up this semester that I look forward to attending. If you are hosting an upcoming A&S event, please submit it to the calendar by clicking the "submit an event" button at https://www.uwyo.edu/as/calendar.html.
Sincerely,
J. Scott Turpen
