Each year, ASUW sponsors six scholarships that provides thousands of dollars to current
and incoming students of the University of Wyoming.
The James C. Hurst Scholarship is awarded to a minority student leader at ASUW. The recipient of the award shall have demonstrated leadership, commitment to, involvement in and awareness of issues surrounding diversity and inclusion that have the potential to give back to marginalized communities at the University of Wyoming. Students must be a member of one or more the following ethnic groups to qualify for the scholarship: American Indian/Alaskan Native; Asian American/Pacific Islander; Black/African American; or Hispanic/Mexican American/Latinx/Chicanx, or any other marginalized/underrepresented ethnic group on campus (at the discretion of the committee).The applicant must also have at least a 2.0 GPA for the fall semester of his/her freshman year. The recipient shall be determined, in part, by the qualifications he/she provides in a written resume of campus and community involvement, awards, and employment. The recipient shall also be determined, in part, by a 750 word essay. Closes March 15th.
ASUW makes a scholarship available to graduating high school students who will attend the University of Wyoming in the fall. This scholarships aim to reward those high school students who have shown excellent leadership skills and plan to continue their leadership while in college. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must 1) be a current year graduating high school student planning to enroll at UW; 2) demonstrate participation in athletics, student organizations, student government, community service, and/or other student leadership involvement; 3) have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 for graduating high school students. Recipients shall be determined, in part, by the qualities he/she provides in a written resume of campus and community involvement. Closes March 15th.
Leadership is an important part of a student’s time in college. To encourage students to become involved in leadership activities at the University of Wyoming, the Associated Students of the University of Wyoming (ASUW) has created a leadership scholarship. This student must have been an active member of the campus and community, and have demonstrated leadership skills in these areas, and have plans to continue their leadership. This scholarship will have a minimum value of $1,000 each semester and will be awarded the fall and spring semesters following application. Previous recipients are encouraged to apply again with the understanding that the most qualified applicants will receive the scholarship. Funds shall be used to make scholarship grants to students enrolled in the University of Wyoming. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must 1) a current student at the University of Wyoming; 2) demonstrate participation in athletics, student organizations, student government, community service, and/or other student leadership involvement; 3) cumulative UW GPA of 3.0 for UW students. Recipients shall be determined, in part, by the qualities he/she provides in a written resume of campus and community involvement. The recipients shall also be determined, in part, by a 500 word essay. Closes March 15th.

All fee paying undergraduate and graduate students are invited to apply for the ASUW Service-Learning Exchange Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to students participating in service-learning exchanges that foster a passion for volunteerism, promote leadership development, and help to create well-rounded students. You do not have to be going on a service-exchange trip in order to apply. Students who have shown a passion for thier community and evidence of community service are encouraged and welcomed to apply. The Charlotte Hearne Davis Scholarship is awarded to a member of the First-Year Senate at the University of Wyoming. The applicant must also have at least a 3.0 GPA for the fall semester of their freshman year. The recipient shall be determined, in part, by the qualifications he/she provides in a written resume of campus and community involvement, awards, and employment. The recipient shall also be determined, in part, by a 750 word essay. Closes March 15th.
Nearly one in three students attending UW is a non-traditional student. These students make up a diverse group with a variety of life experiences, backgrounds, skills, responsibilities and needs. To lighten the financial difficulty of students who are parents, the ASUW has created a Child Assistance scholarship. This student must have a child dependent and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship will have a value of $1,000 for one semester and will be awarded the spring semester following application. This year, ASUW will be awarding 5 (five) $1,000 scholarships. Previous recipients are encouraged to apply again with the understanding that each application will be given equal review and consideration. Closes March 15th.
The ASUW Opportunity for Excellence Scholarship The purpose of the ASUW Opportunity for Excellence Scholarship is to help cover the unmet financial need of deserving students at the University of Wyoming. This scholarship is designed to help amazing student find opportunities for excellence that they would otherwise be financially excluded from without this scholarship money. Any student can apply to this scholarship as long as they are in good academic standing with the university. Those with financial need, as determined by the FAFSA, will be prioritized. Closes March 15th.
