Summer is finally here! It has been an incredibly busy and productive few months here at the University of Wyoming College of Business. True Family Endows UW College of Business Deanship
The True family, renowned for their service to the state of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming (UW), have further entrenched their legacy with the creation of the H.A. “Dave” True Jr. Family College of Business Deanship. Intended to enrich the business environment within the state, the deanship will provide vital support to the dean of the UW College of Business, fostering educational excellence, research, and community engagement. UW College of Business Rolls Out Venture MBA Program
The College of Business is excited to announce the launch of a new Venture MBA program. This unique 18-month MBA is tailor-made for ambitious entrepreneurs and innovators looking to jumpstart their journey. The program combines an immersive experience in Laramie's Wyoming Entrepreneurial Ecosystem with the flexibility of a remote last semester. Students will have the opportunity to develop their own startups, innovate within existing companies, or intern with venture capital funds. The program also features visits to innovation-driven cities across the U.S. and Europe and provides access to Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, coaches, and mentors. Learn More
Entrepreneurial Excellence: 23rd Annual John P. Ellbogen $50k Competition Winners
The University of Wyoming College of Business’ 23rd Annual John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition concluded with the selection of winners. The grand prize of $39,000 was awarded to BAST Manufacturing, a team focusing on sustainable, high-performance air filters. Other winners include Inspira Nutrition, EdgeFlyte, and Purely Persistent, receiving $15,500, $5,000, and $4,000 respectively. Various additional awards were presented to innovative projects addressing community needs, female entrepreneurship, social enterprises, and potential positive impacts on Wyoming. Read More
UW Ethics Club's SparkTank Competition Awards $158,000 to Local Nonprofits
The University of Wyoming's student-led Ethics Club awarded over $158,000 to four local nonprofits during their annual SparkTank event. This philanthropic initiative enriches the student experience through leadership in charitable efforts while supporting nonprofits' missions. This year's beneficiaries were the Unaccompanied Students Initiative, Climb Wyoming, Family Promise, and Feeding Laramie Valley. The funds will assist these organizations in their missions ranging from providing safe housing for homeless youth to promoting food security in Albany County. Read more
UW Awards Esteemed Alumnus and Economist John List with Honorary Doctorate
John List, a preeminent economist and College of Business alumnus, was recently honored by the University of Wyoming with an honorary doctoral degree. Known for pioneering field experiments to test behavioral theories, List has utilized diverse markets, from the sports trading card industry to the education sector, to gather invaluable data. The author of over 200 peer-reviewed articles and several textbooks, including the international bestseller "The Why Axis." List gave a guest lecture to the College of Business and also a commencement speech, sharing his expertise and experiences.
Tydings Appointed as Director of Peter M. & Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center
Justine Tydings has been appointed the new director of the Peter M. and Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center at the UW College of Business. Tydings has been an instrumental figure in boosting student engagement and enrollment within the MBA program. In her new role, Tydings aims to continue enhancing the center's offerings and impact on student achievement. Read more
UW Business Students Score Repeat Win in Renowned Ethics Competition
For the second consecutive year, an undergraduate team from the College of Business has triumphed at the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Case Competition. The team showcased its ethical analysis and decision-making skills by successfully tackling a complex business ethics case about a global supply chain company. The victory underscores the College's commitment to instilling a high standard of ethics in its students and promoting principle-based ethics education. Read more
Leadership Certificate Makes Debut from UW's Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics
UW’s Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics (PBLE) recently celebrated the introduction of the Leadership Certificate. Tailored for senior business and community leaders, this program aims to facilitate the discovery and implementation of personal moral codes and effectively lead by it in their organizations. Beneficiaries of this customizable program gain insights into their leadership identity and ethical change-making strategies. Early participants from the Wyoming Department of Enterprise Technology Services acclaimed the program for its combination of research and practical learning. Nick Prince Receives Geringer Award
Assistant Professor Nick Prince has been selected as the recipient of the 2023-26 Governor Geringer Award for Promising Young Scholars. The award honors faculty members in the Department of Management and Marketing who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and service.
