International Student Resources

International Internship and Job Searches

International jobs and internships are some of the most rewarding experiences for students and recent graduates alike! Not only does it supply students with the experience to learn, understand, and even develop an appreciation for other cultures: but it also gives students more extended networking opportunities, practical business applications in unfamiliar environments, experience with international business laws and regulations, and the opportunity to overcome the immense learning curve while giving you a whole new perspective on the business world. If you are a student who is interested in completing an internship abroad or if you are a recent graduate looking for oversees employment there are many different resources available to you. Cheney International Center can help you find internships and study abroad opportunities. In addition, the College of Business has a fully executed agreement with Pforzheim University for Marketing majors, you can contact the Peter M. & Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center Career Services or the Dean's Office for more information. Feel free to drop by the Peter M. & Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center Career Services if you need further assistance.

International Students

If you are an international student at the University of Wyoming and you are looking for job or internship opportunities within the United States, we have compiled many different resources to help you through the process!

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

International students are legally required to enroll in a minimum of 1 credit hour for work opportunities off campus.  They are also required to enroll for CPT.

USCIS defines “Curricular Practical Training” as “alternative work/study, internship, cooperative education, or any other type of required internship or practicum which is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with the school.”  USCIS regulations state that CPT must be curricular (related to the student’s major field of study) and “an integral part of the established curriculum.” CPT is allowed for the purpose of training in skills to be used toward completion of a degree.  To learn more about CPT and to apply please visit the International Students & Scholars Office website.

A staff member from the Peter M. & Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center Career Services will complete Part II of the application only after the internship has been approved for credit.

We highly encourage all international students to take part in an internship during their college career to increase their prospects after graduation. If you have any remaining questions please come by the Peter M. & Paula Green Johnson Student Success Center Career Services during our Walk-In Hours, the link is provided above, or visit the International Students and Scholars Department.
