Negative Life Events and their Unequal Consequences for Health and Well-Being: Incarceration, Victimization, and Exposure to Violence
As a Florida native, Dr. Kuper received her Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees from Florida State University. While in graduate school, Dr. Kuper received multiple awards for her academic and scholarly leadership. Her love of adventure and the great outdoors brought her to the University of Wyoming. Dr. Kuper's research appears in various scholarly outlets including Child Abuse & Neglect, Race and Justice, Health & Justice, and Crime and Delinquency.
Dr. Kuper's current work continues to unpack the varied criminal justice responses to and victimization experiences of marginalized groups. Her recent series of papers examines immigrant threat perspectives, crimmigration policies, and the immigrant paradox in correctional settings.
Dr. Kuper is a first-generation college student. She has regularly felt confused about how to operate in this space throughout her academic career but now recognizes the strengths that her first-gen status offers her. If you are also a first-gen student and want to chat with someone who knows what that's like, she welcomes your email or drop-by visit during office hours!
