Supervising a UW student
“Paying it forward” is often the expression used when a supervisor agrees to mentor an SLP graduate clinician. Clinical education is one of the hallmarks of the UW graduate program, helping clinicians to bridge their academic knowledge to their clinical skills and develop their craft. Along with the satisfaction of “giving back” to the profession, there are additional benefits of hosting a UW clinician. These include an honorarium towards ASHA membership dues. If you are interested in mentoring a student or allowing an undergraduate student to observe at your local facility, contact the clinic director, Corri Sandoval, at csandov3@uwyo.edu or 307-766-6438 for more information. Supervision matters! Make a difference as a clinical educator by supervising a graduate student.
