We're here to help you out! Study these frequently asked questions to gain a deeper knowledge of the GPND program and how to apply:

GPND is the Graduate Program in Nutrition and Dietetics. This is an accredited program through The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. It is a program that provides students the opportunity to complete a graduate level program and to complete SEL hours necessary to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Tuition and fees can be found at https://www.uwyo.edu/sfa/cost-of-attendance/graduate.html. Some other costs for the GPND include textbooks, professional attire, background checks, liability insurance, and reliable transportation.
A new cohort of the GPND starts every Spring term.
September 30th for the following spring.
Internal candidates (current University of Wyoming undergraduates) apply through the UW Admissions application portal.
External candidates (applicants that have not previously attended UW) apply to the program via DICAS (Dietetics Inclusive Centralized Application Services). If accepted, candidates then apply through the UW Admissions application portal to become an official UW graduate student.
The GPND consists of five consecutive terms, starting in a Spring term, the following Summer, Fall, Spring, and 2nd Summer terms.
You will have earned a Master of Science degree and also completed all the required SEL hours necessary to sit for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist exam.
SEL hours are Supervised Experiential Learning hoursalso known as internship, rotation, or supervised practice hours. These are hours completed at specific sites (referred to as "rotation sites" or "rotations") for experience in specific areas of dietetics. A preceptor at each site will help train and educate you.
A preceptor is a dietetics professional, often a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, who provides guidance, training, and practical experience to dietetic students during their SEL hours. They act as mentors, helping students develop professional skills and apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
No. Very few programs nationwide offer compensation when working with preceptors at SEL, or rotation, sites.
