Your Support Makes a Difference

Student Field Trip YellowstoneThe Department of Geology and Geophysics greatly benefits from funds raised by gifts and donations from alumni, friends of the department, and the private sector. While we have support from the University for many of our programs, those that benefit from fundraising include:

  • our field geology program including field camp and field labs for undergraduate and graduate classes
  • fellowships for Ph.D. and M.S. level graduate students and scholarships in chosen disciplines and merit and need based scholarships for undergraduates
  • upgrading of student computing facilities
  • our department "discretionary" account that supports activities such as special teaching and research needs, travel to field areas and national meetings, analytical equipment purchase and maintenance, publication of the Profile Newsletter, and maintenance of the website.

Geology Students at field campYou can make a an annual gift of $25 or more online to the Geology and Geophysics Department Fund. Alternatively, gifts to the Department from Alumni and friends can be made in the form of a check, cash, credit card, or by a pledge. Increase your contribution by having your employer match your gift. Many companies will match their employees' gifts to higher education. In some cases your spouse's company may also contribute to your gift. Check with your company's Human Resources Office for their participation in matching gifts. Please consider donating to the Donald W. Boyd Endowment for Graduate Studies in Geology & Geophysics.
