Graduate student Erin Phillips (Ph.D.) recently received a Goldschmidt student travel grant provided by the Geochemical Society to help fund her travel to the annual Goldschmidt 2015 meeting in Prague, Czech Republic. This annual conference is the preeminent gathering for geochemists from around the world. Erin will present a talk on her research titled, “Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopes reveal the nature and evolution of mantle upwelling at Ross Island, Antarctica.” Additional funding came from the University of Wyoming Department of Geology and Geophysics, a Paul Stock Foundation scholarship, and NSF grant funding to Erin’s advisor, Professor Kenneth Sims.
Graduate student Abraham Role (Ph.D.) was recently awarded one of two 2015 Dr. J. David Love Field Geology Fellowships from the Wyoming Geological Association. The $1,000 award will be used to help costs of Abraham’s research project titled “Investigating the timescales of hydrothermal fluid origins and dynamics, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA.”
Abraham is also advised by Professor Kenneth Sims.
