The Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming has been ranked
No. 1 in the nation in a new “best value” list for 2021.
The department tops College Factual’s “Best Geological and Earth Sciences Colleges for the Money” rankings for the third year in a row.
And the department came 17th out of the 56 top ranked departments and was the 17th most popular out of 489 geology and earth science departments nationwide in College Factual's "2021 Best
Geological & Earth Sciences Colleges in the U.S." rankings. The ranking methodology
takes into account factors such as education quality, average earnings of graduates,
accreditation, and several other relevant factors.
College Factual, an online service that helps “every student get their best fit education for less,” notes that the annual average starting salary for UW geology undergraduates is about 12% more than the national median starting salary for students with geology bachelor degrees. The rankings also take into account the average time students take to graduate (< 4.6 years), as well as the quality the school provides and the average yearly cost of attendance.
