Rhiannon Jakopak is the Outreach Coordinator and Research Scientist for the Monteith Shop in the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming. Rhiannon’s work focuses on mammal ecology and behavior, how humans understand and value wildlife and natural resources, and science communication. She hopes that her work can help to build evidence-based management strategies, policies, and laws surrounding wildlife. Rhiannon completed a master’s degree with Dr. Kevin Monteith in 2021, where she studied the daily behavior of migratory mule deer and how stakeholders across Wyoming conceptualize the factors affecting mule deer populations. If she’s not at work (and sometimes even for work), she’s usually outside, trying to identify any flower, bird, or animal track that she might come across.
