Steve Smutko is the University of Wyoming's Spicer Chair in Collaborative Practice. He is a professor for the Environment and Natural Resources Program and for the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. Smutko has worked for nearly 20 years in public policy decision making designing, convening and facilitating numerous public policy decision processes on natural resources issues in the Rocky Mountain West and Southeastern U.S. He also conducts research in collaborative decision making and teaches negotiation analysis to University of Wyoming students.
Mary Lou Addor directs the Natural Resources Leadership Institute and is an Extension Specialist at North Carolina State University for Extension Organizational Development. Lou has significant experience in program planning and leadership development including facilitation of multi-stakeholder environmental decision making. Through education, training, research and facilitation, Lou assists communities and organizations with integrative problem solving. The title of her dissertation is "An Interpretative Inquiry into Natural Resources and Environmental Leadership."
Nina Burkardt is a Research Social Scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her research focuses on negotiation, conflict resolution and institutional analysis. She's interested in water resource management and the social and political dynamics surrounding decisions about water use and allocation. She's published research papers in many journals, including Environmental Management, Wildlife Society Bulletin, Environmental Practice and Environmental Impact Assessment Review and has taught natural resource negotiation since 1992.
Judith Kohler is the communications manager on public lands for the National Wildlife Federation at their Rocky Mountain Regional Center. After graduating from the University of Colorado-Boulder with a journalism degree, Kohler worked as a reporter and editor on daily and weekly newspapers in Nebraska and Colorado. She covered the environment, energy and politics for The Associated Press in Wyoming and Colorado for 21 years, writing about public lands management, wolf reintroduction, energy development, political campaigns, legislative sessions and more.
Todd Malmsbury is director of communications for the Colorado Wildlife Federation. He has worked on natural resource issues in the West for over three decades. His environment and science reportage ranged from forest management to nuclear weapons production. As chief of information and chief spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, he coordinated the agency's communications on issues including lynx reintroduction, chronic wasting disease and predator issues. He's also worked with conservation groups on energy development and habitat protection.
