What is a Competency?
A competency is a measurable pattern of skills, behaviors, and attributes that an
individual needs to effectively perform a specific job or occupational role. By incorporating
competencies into our talent management approach, we promote greater consistency,
fairness, and more focused employee development across the organization.
Why Do We Incorporate Competencies into Job Descriptions?
Our WyoCloud-HCM system is built on industry best practices and includes a comprehensive
competency model. Competencies are integrated throughout WyoCloud-HCM in key areas
such as:
How Are Competencies Used?
Competencies focus on how work is performed—emphasizing the skills and behaviors that lead to success—rather than simply what is done.
About Our Competency Framework
We use a well-established Competency Dictionary that has been thoroughly vetted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
and other HR experts. For a detailed overview, please refer to the Competency Dictionary with Key Behaviors document.
Each job description or job group will include the universal core competencies alongside a tailored set of role-specific competencies.
Questions?
If you have any questions about the competencies associated with the jobs you supervise,
