The University of Wyoming offers benefited employees an insurance plan that does not meet the J-1 requirement. If a J-1 scholar chooses to enroll and purchase our plan, they will still need to purchase a separate comprehensive insurance policy that meets all the J-1 minimum requirements including repatriation and medical evacuation. Please contact International Student and Scholars for more information regarding J-1 scholar insurance requirements, or email uwglobal@uwyo.edu.
Preventative and optional plans are offered by Delta Dental. If this coverage is waived or dropped, there is a three-year waiting period before enrolling.
The Vision Discount Plan is provided by VSP (Vision Service Plan). If this coverage is waived or dropped, there is a one-year waiting period before enrolling. Elections for vision coverage are for one year and may not be changed without a qualifying event.
Applications for all changes to insurance due to a qualifying event must be made within 60 days of the event. Supporting documentation is required before changes will be made. The effective date for births, adoption, or marriage is the date of the actual event. The effective date for all other changes is the first of the month following the qualifying event AND receipt of the applications.
Refer to this qualifying event matrix, for deadlines and important information related to each type of qualifying event.
Employees and dependents may visit any health care provider of their choice. Discounts are available for network providers in the Cigna and Delta Dental networks.
The CVS Caremark plan provides prescription drug coverage for medication needs through a nationwide network of retail pharmacies and a mail order service. CVS Caremark provides member and pharmacy network services. When you enroll in a health plan, you will automatically be enrolled in the prescription drug plan. CVS Caremark will send you a separate ID card that you will present when you pick up your prescription. Exceptions apply for the high deductible health plan and specialty drugs.
The University of Wyoming recognizes the importance of offering an option to assist employees with the cost of insurance for domestic partners.
