Legal clinics located at UW are free to UW students and may be free to others in the community. Non-UW resources listed on this page might not provide free services. Immigration attorneys can represent clients in any state in the US and ISS will provide contact information for those offices who request to be listed as a resource. UW does not specifically endorse or recommend any non-UW legal office or attorney.
Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic
Advocacy Clinic Website
Services include: providing comprehensive legal representation in civil, non-fee-generating
cases to people whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Potential
clients include, but are not limited to, those who are victims of domestic violence,
dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault. The student attorneys are able to
handle a wide variety of cases under the supervision of a licensed attorney/faculty
director. The types of cases students handle in the Family and Child Legal Advocacy
Clinic include but are not limited to: divorce, child custody, child support, adoptions,
guardianships, and guardian ad litem appointments in juvenile and domestic relations
cases. Law students are also able to represent children or their parents in child
abuse and neglect cases, termination of parental rights, and children in need of supervision
actions.
