Conserving Nature in Greater Yellowstone Book Presentation & Signing

Join Robert Keiter, Wallace Stegner Professor of Law, University Distinguished Professor, and founding director of the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources, and the Environment at the University of Utah S. J. Quinney College of Law, for an informative presentation and Q&A session about his new book, which delves into the conservation achievements and controversies within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.


Managing Wildlife in Large Landscapes Conference

  • Dates: October 1–2, 2025
  • Location: Snow King Resort, Jackson, WY

This conference, hosted by the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, will bring managers, researchers, and conservationists from iconic landscapes across the planet to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem for a global dialogue on the challenges, opportunities, and solutions for conserving and managing wildlife in large, complex landscapes.

The two-day conference will focus on four themes:

  1. Indigenous and Local Communities;
  2. Human–Wildlife Conflict;
  3. Transboundary Collaboration; and
  4. Change

in six focus landscapes:

  1. The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem;
  2. The Amazon Basin in South America;
  3. Sápmi of Scandinavia;
  4. The veldt of southern Africa;
  5. The European Alps; and
  6. The Gobi Desert in Mongolia

Landscape Discussion on Energy Law & Policy in the Rockies

Join us in Laramie on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the University of Wyoming’s Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center for a dynamic forum on policy and law. This event will delve into key issues in energy, mining, nuclear waste, and regulation, uniting industry leaders, legal experts, policymakers, and academics for insightful discussions and collaboration. Frank J. Trelease Dinner with Speaker Temple Stoellinger

Gina Guy Center for Land & Water Law co-director Temple Stoellinger will deliver remarks at the Frank J. Trelease Dinner organized by the College of Law’s John Burman Student Bar Association. The dinner honors Trelease, who was a premier Western water law scholar, a professor for 33 years, and former Dean at the UW College of Law. More information coming soon!


C.J. Box Symposium

This Wyoming Law Review symposium will highlight the legal issues implicated in the works of Saratoga, WY-based, N.Y. Times best-selling author C.J. Box.

Most famous for his Joe Pickett Series, Mr. Box’s novels center around salient issues in the American West, such as wildlife and land management, law enforcement, and environmental issues. The symposium will focus on the same, with speakers discussing grizzly bear management and the Endangered Species Act, corner crossing, and the realities of being a Wyoming game warden. The day will conclude with remarks from Mr. Box and a reception and book signing. More information coming soon!


Gina Guy Keynote on Government Service

The Gina Guy Keynote on Government Service is an annual event that honors legal professionals who have devoted significant portions of their careers to public service. This series serves as an inspiration to young attorneys, showcasing the vital role of lawyers in government and emphasizing the importance of legal expertise in shaping policy, upholding justice, and serving diverse communities.

Rebecca Watson, a close friend of Gina Guy, was instrumental in establishing this keynote series. Launched in 2022 as part of the annual Landscape Conference on Energy Law and Policy, the keynote has become a cornerstone of the conference, providing a platform to celebrate public service and highlight the impact of dedicated legal professionals in government roles.

  • 2024: Senator Affie Ellis – Affie Ellis, a member of the Navajo Nation and former Wyoming State Senator, has dedicated her career to public service through roles such as Deputy Attorney General for the Navajo Nation, legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Craig Thomas, and Chair of the Wyoming Senate Judiciary Committee, focusing on federal Indian law, natural resource policy, and advancing public safety and education in Native American communities.
