Gina Guy Center for Law and Energy Resources in the Rockies

The Gina Guy Center for Law and Energy Resources in the Rockies (CLERR) provides a focal point for the many energy and natural resources activities at the University of Wyoming College of Law and serves as a vehicle for outreach from the College of Law to the interested public. The interdisciplinary approach of the Center allows for the exploration of the legal, social, economic, technological, and political realities that affect energy and natural resources policy.

Through speakers, conferences, symposia, and similar activities, CLERR provides a platform for engaging in constructive and meaningful public policy debate and offers the opportunity for robust legal and policy research. The strong energy, environment, and natural resources curricula, coupled with a wealth of "real world" experiences and collaboration with cross-disciplinary University of Wyoming programs, such as the School of Energy Resources and the Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, provide CLERR the ability to prepare students to face the challenges of our energy future.

Mission

Energy plays a critical role in society, affecting our economy, national security, international trade, and the human and physical environment. These issues are nowhere more acute than in the Rocky Mountain Region, particularly here in Wyoming, which is one of the nation's top energy producing states, providing coal, oil, natural gas, uranium, and renewable resources.

CLERR builds on the strong academic program at the College of Law in energy, environment, and natural resources to provide a web-based storehouse of information, a balanced and informative public forum on regional and national energy policy matters, and cutting edge research projects. In combination with energy-expert faculty at the University of Wyoming, the Center is on the forefront of addressing the region's most pressing energy law and policy problems.
