Defender Aid Clinic
2025-2026 Student Clinic Director: Maggie Asay
I started over in college as a single mother to four kids. After obtaining my undergraduate degree from Purdue University Global, I worked as a paralegal and discovered a love for the legal profession. With a lot of support from my family, I decided to pursue law school.
I was born and raised in Wyoming and after relocating to Iowa for a few years, I was thrilled to move home to attend the University of Wyoming College of Law. While being a law student and a single mom to four has been difficult, it has been a wonderful, transformative experience. My time in law school has included traveling to the East Coast, Europe, and across Wyoming to see clients and appear in court.
I started in the Defender Aid Clinic as a 2L legal assistant the summer after my 1L year. My experience in the clinic has given me purpose, direction, and a deep passion for defense work. It has inspired me to become a dedicated advocate for those in need and affirmed my commitment to building a career in criminal law here in Wyoming.
