Experiential Learning

UW College of Law

At the University of Wyoming College of Law, learning goes far beyond the classroom. Our nationally recognized experiential learning program is consistently ranked among the top law schools for practical training. These immersive opportunities give students real-world legal experience through clinics, externships and simulation courses. From day one, you’ll build the skills and confidence needed to practice law with purpose and impact.

We believe in hands-on learning. An array of for-credit clinic, practicum, and externship opportunities, as well as the Summer Trial Institute, are available to fit your academic and career goals and enhance your experience beyond the classroom. Please note that credits vary.

Clinics provide an in-depth learning experience in a particular area of law. Since 2013, the College of Law has proudly offered a Clinic Guarantee, ensuring that every interested student has the opportunity to participate in one of our legal clinics.  Students work extremely hard and earn great levels of success, opening 95 new cases from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.
