Legal Clinics
estate planning and Probate clinic
2025-2026 Student Clinic Director: Tori Dunivan
I come from a very rural area where my family farms wheat, corn, milo, and sunflowers. Growing up in that environment gave me a deep understanding of agriculture and rural life. So, I felt right at home at the University of Wyoming, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business.
My agricultural background, especially seeing how often western farmers struggle with water access, was a major reason I decided to apply to law school. I also saw firsthand how few attorneys and justice workers serve rural communities. I want to be an advocate for farmers, ranchers, and rural residents. My ultimate goal is to be a true “country lawyer,” with a general practice that meets the wide range of legal needs found in rural areas. To help accomplish that, I’m currently pursuing a joint Juris Doctor and Master’s in Environment and Natural Resources.
After my 1L year, I interned with the Colorado Access to Justice Commission and took part in the Greater Colorado Law Student Experience, a program aimed at recruiting future lawyers to serve rural parts of Colorado. That experience only deepened my commitment to working in underserved areas, where financial barriers and physical distance often mean people go without legal help. I continued researching “legal deserts” for the Commission into my 2L year.
UW’s clinical program was a major draw for me, because it serves people who might not otherwise be able to access legal services. I applied to be the 2L legal assistant for the Estate Planning and Probate Clinic (EPPC) because I believe this work meets a universal need, one that’s especially important in rural communities and one I hope to incorporate into my future general practice. I had an incredible year with the clinic and was honored to be selected as the 3L Director for EPPC.
The clinic has been the most valuable and rewarding part of my law school experience so far. I tell everyone that the clinic has been the best part of law school. I’m excited to continue working with our faculty director, Mario, and our new 2L legal assistant, Laeona, as we help serve clients across the state.
