Date: Wednesday, February 21
Time: 12pm
Location: CR 314
Speaker: Melissa Reynolds, Associate Professor of Chemistry and School of Biomedical Engineering, Colorado State University
Dr. Reynolds research is multidisciplinary and focuses on the molecular design and fabrication of biomimetic materials for use in medical device applications. Her lab is involved in a wide variety of research endeavors including: 1) synthesis of molecular, polymer, and extended framework biomaterials containing therapeutic functional groups; 2) analytical and physical studies of biomaterials utilizing fluorescence, chemiluminesence, zeta potential, and LC/MS-TOF; 3) fabrication and engineering of materials including spin-coating substrates and electrospinning nanofibers for tissue engineering; and 4) in vitro and in vivo efficacy and toxicity studies of biomaterials with potential translation to medical applications (preclinical studies done in collaboration with CSU Veterinary Medicine, UM Medical School, and Beaumont Research Hospital).
