Flu shots only for University of Wyoming students will be available in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom Friday, Oct. 2.
Flu shots will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis from 9-11:30 a.m. and from 1:30-4:30 p.m. A limited number of flu shots will be available by appointment at Student Health Service for students unable to go to the Wyoming Union.
The cost is $25 and will be billed to student medical insurance for students who carry that coverage. For students with other insurance coverage, the charge will be billed to their student accounts. Students also may request a walkout statement from Student Health Service in one week to submit to their own insurance for reimbursement, says Mary Beth Bender, director and primary care nurse practitioner at Student Health Service.
In accordance with UW’s COVID-19 policy, face coverings must be worn, and social distancing must be maintained whenever possible at the flu shot clinic.
The flu clinic is only for students, and Student Health Service cannot offer shots to UW faculty and staff at this time, Bender says.
“To help keep our UW community safe and healthy, staff and faculty are encouraged to obtain flu shots through their primary care providers; local urgent care clinics; local pharmacies; Wyoming Health Fair; or the Albany County Public Health flu shot clinics, including the drive-thru flu shot clinic in the stadium parking lot Oct. 8,” Bender says.
