Concerns related to an uptick in COVID-19 cases in Converse County and local schools have prompted the postponement of the University of Wyoming’s “The World Needs More Cowboys” celebration in Douglas.
New UW President Ed Seidel had been scheduled to participate in the Sept. 24 evening event at Nida Field near Douglas High School, as well as at assemblies at Douglas and Glenrock high schools, along with current UW students from Converse County, faculty members and others.
The university will look for opportunities to reschedule the Converse County activities as soon as possible.
A Natrona County “The World Needs More Cowboys” celebration is still scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 5-7 p.m. at Casper’s David Street Station. State guidelines to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission will be followed.
