Nominations are being accepted now for the University of Wyoming’s Student Employee of the Year. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 29.
Only undergraduate student employees will be considered for the award. Students may be paid by work-study funds or institutional funds. There is no restriction on students’ length of employment. December graduates and students who have been employed at UW any time within the current academic year will be considered.
Student employees will be judged on the following National Association of Colleges and Employers core competencies: critical thinking/problem-solving; teamwork/collaboration; digital technology; leadership; professionalism/work ethic; career management; and global/intercultural fluency.
To nominate a student employee, email the nomination letter to Amy Ernst at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The top three student employees will receive scholarships. The first-place student will receive a $500 scholarship; second place will be awarded a $250 scholarship; and the third-place student will receive a $100 scholarship. The winner will advance to the state level and, possibly, to the national-level competition.
“Student employees are an integral part of UW’s workforce,” says Tom Koczara, associate vice president for human resources. “Everyone in our university community has inspirational stories about these hard-working, dedicated team members who contribute to the university’s mission while working to financially support their educational goals. We are grateful for the numerous contributions made by our student employees, and we encourage you to join in nominating a student for this prestigious award.”
