Nominations are now being accepted for student speakers for the University of Wyoming’s spring commencement ceremonies May 14-15. The nomination deadline is Friday, April 2.
Up to four UW students graduating this spring will be selected to speak during the commencement ceremonies. UW faculty, staff and student organizations are invited to nominate students for the honor, says Courtney Thomson-Lichty, senior project coordinator in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Each nomination should indicate whether the student nominee is an undergraduate or graduate student, and confirm willingness to participate as the commencement speaker.
Criteria include a record of academic excellence; ability to write and speak effectively to a large audience; demonstrated leadership in student organizations/activities, public service or other activities that involve speaking to groups; and representative of the best qualities of UW graduates.
Nominations should be emailed to the Office of the President at uwpres@uwyo.edu.
For more information, call Thomson-Lichty at (307) 766-5123 or email courtney.thomsonlichty@uwyo.edu.
