The University of Wyoming Department of Music Spotlight Series will present the UW Percussion Ensemble’s fall concert Monday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.
Tickets are $12 for the public; $8 for senior citizens; $6 for students not attending UW; and free to UW students with a “W” number. Conducted by Andy Wheelock, an assistant professor in the UW Department of Music, the concert will feature high-energy, contemporary music ranging from marimba ensembles to Afro-Cuban percussion.
The program includes “Doors” by Dave Hall; “Bicksa” by Thom Hasenpflug; “Fractalia” by Owen Clayton Condon; “Oblivion” by Astor Piazzolla, arranged by William Smith; “Fandango 13” by Michael Burritt; and “Mt. St. Timba” by Wheelock.
The UW Percussion Ensemble is composed of mostly percussion majors, but it is open to all UW students upon successful audition. The ensemble performs music from percussion’s most standard repertoire as well as innovative new works in the field.
