UW Offers Support to Students Affected by Colorado Fires

The University of Wyoming is individually reaching out and offering support to a number of students and prospective students who live in the area northwest of Denver devastated by last week’s wildfires.

Meanwhile, the university encourages members of the UW community impacted by the fires who have questions or need support to email Vice President for Student Affairs Kim Chestnut at k.chestnut@uwyo.edu.

“Our hearts go out to those who suffered such terrible property and other losses in Boulder County,” UW President Ed Seidel says. “We are working to make contact with our students and prospective students to offer any assistance necessary for them to continue their studies and enroll at UW, even as they may be dealing with a very difficult situation.”

The fires swept through about 6,000 acres in just a couple of hours, destroying nearly 1,000 homes and other buildings, authorities say.

Those wishing to provide assistance to fire victims can learn more about how to donate at www.boulderoem.com or www.coloradoresponds.org.
