A “Grieg: Violin Sonatas for Flute” recital is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in UW’s Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The Department of Music event is free and open to the public.
The recital features American flutist Kaleb Chesnic and Brazilian artist Nathália Kato, also a UW Department of Music staff collaborative pianist. They will present composer Edvard Grieg’s three sonatas for violin: Sonata No. 1 in F major, Op. 8; Sonata No. 2 in G major, Op. 13; and Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45.
Chesnic and Kato met while pursuing their degrees in music at the University of Colorado-Boulder. After a few occasional musical partnerships, the duo pursued a project that resulted in their recording debut. The CD was released last November. The recital highlights the duo’s recording debut together.
