Casper Start

IMPACT 307 looks to build upon previous successes of the Casper Start-Up Challenge, which enters its seventh year of competition and an increased seed fund that totals $100,000.

IMPACT 307 is a business development program of the University of Wyoming. It is a not-for-profit business incubator system that provides startup and early-stage companies with the expertise, networks and tools necessary for the development of successful businesses. It is administered by UW’s Office of Research and Economic Development.

“2022 was a great year for the challenge, but we are looking forward to 2023,” says Eric Schlidt, director of IMPACT Casper. “We are thrilled that the TW Foundation has been so generous and allowed us to increase seed funds, and ensure the challenge is around for years to come.”

Registration for this year’s challenge is open and will close Wednesday, Feb. 8. To apply, go here.

Ten semifinalists will be selected, and semifinalist interviews will take place the week of Feb. 20. The judges will then narrow the field to five finalists who will then work with IMPACT Casper staff on their final pitches. The final pitch competition is scheduled Thursday, April 13.

Casper Start-Up Challenge winners will have the opportunity to pitch for a portion of the seed fund after the Pitch Night presentations. In addition to the seed funding, a select few companies will be chosen to receive office space in the IMPACT Casper facility for a year.

The five finalists will receive a sponsored entry to the Advance Casper Entrepreneur’s Boot Camp, which will take place in March. Entrepreneurs will be taken on a holistic journey -- through conceptualization to materialization -- of a business. Boot camp agenda topics include legal, financial, market development, competitive analysis, intellectual property and team development.

The Casper Start-Up Challenge is sponsored by the TW Foundation, Advance Casper, First Interstate Bank, Hilltop Bank, Oil City News and WIDC Frontier CDC.
