The Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network continues its six-part webinar series about the State Trade Expansion Program that will guide small-business owners through the steps to expand into international trade and to provide real-world examples from successful Wyoming small-business exporters.
Multiple speakers will explain how small-business owners can learn how to write a business plan for personal financial growth during the second webinar in the series titled “Planning Your Export Strategy” from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. To register, go here. Registration is free.
Speakers are Patty Brewer, Small Business Association (SBA) export finance manager for Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming; and David Fales, founder and CEO of Wyoming Gourmet Beef. Fales will share the story of starting his company in Wyoming, with a mission to make Wyoming beef not only available in Wyoming, but also around the world. He’ll share the good, the bad and the ugly of his experiences opening up the Canadian market for his products.
In 2019, Wyoming companies exported more than $1.37 billion in goods to the world. Of the companies that export, 97 percent are small businesses.
The webinar training series is presented in collaboration with the Wyoming Business Council, the U.S. SBA, U.S. Department of Commerce and the Wyoming Procurement Technical Assistance Center. This series will help small businesses evaluate whether exporting might be right for them; help them develop an initial exporting plan; and explain how to access grant funding that may be available in Wyoming to help offset some of the costs of becoming export ready.
Future webinars in the series are scheduled Feb. 8 and 23, and March 8 and 22.
