The University of Wyoming will host a job fair for the hospitality and tourism industries Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the College of Business Building atrium.
The fair is seeking employers looking to staff up for seasonal operations or promote year-round career opportunities for recent graduates. UW students who are seeking internships, summer employment or career opportunities are encouraged to attend.
The job fair is hosted by the Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality (WORTH) Initiative, the College of Business and the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources.
“Tourism is the second-largest industry economically in Wyoming and the largest employment sector, with over 30,000 people employed,” says Dan McCoy, a co-sponsor of the event and director of the WORTH Initiative. “We know from our partners that staffing is one of the largest challenges facing the industry. We are hoping to pair interested and qualified students with career and job opportunities to support these important industries.”
The job fair is expecting strong employer demand. The fair is limited to 32 employers, and registration closes Jan. 27.
Students interested in attending the fair should register in advance, though drop-in attendance also is encouraged. Students who register in advance can see the specific employers in attendance, share resumes and communicate with those employers through Handshake.
