UW and Wyoming SBDC Network to Host Workshop in Gillette Feb. 22

For anyone contemplating starting a small business, the thought alone can be daunting. However, advice and assistance are available.

P.J. Burns will discuss the basics of starting a business during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network workshop titled “Start Your Own Business” Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Campbell County Public Library, located at 2101 S. 4J Road in Gillette. The presentation will take place in the Wyoming Room. To register, go here. Registration is free.

The workshop will help potential new business owners test the feasibility of their market ideas; identify their target markets; explore financing options; and create business plans.

Burns, northeast regional director (Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties) for the Wyoming SBDC Network, received her degree from the University of Wyoming and has more than 20 years of business advising experience. She has spent the majority of her career advising and advocating for small businesses in her roles at various chambers of commerce and economic development organizations. She has a background in marketing, human resources, strategic planning, leadership and management.

Paula Kelting, reference manager from the Campbell County Public Library, will present a demonstration of the free business resources -- including the GALE Business: Plan Builder and GALE LegalForms database -- available to library card holders.
