The University of Wyoming Chamber Orchestra will perform “Concerto Soiree” Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. UW Department of Music Professor Beth Vanderborgh directs the orchestra.
Tickets are $14 for the public, $11 for senior citizens and $10 for students. UW faculty and staff members, and military personnel can purchase tickets at a discounted rate. The program will feature an evening of mainly Baroque concertos, all played by UW Chamber Orchestra members, highlighting the talent in the ensemble.
Featured will be Leonardo Leo’s “Concerto for Four Violins”; Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Four Violas,” E minor Sonata RV40, No. 5, “Concerto for Violin and Cello” in B-flat major, “Summer” from “The Four Seasons” and “Cello Concerto RV 407”; Casadesus’ “Viola Concerto in the Style of J.C. Bach”; Piazzolla’s “Oblivion for Two Cellos and Strings”; Telemann’s “Concerto in G major for Two Violas”; J.S. Bach’s “Double Violin Concerto in D minor” and “Concerto for Three Violins BWV1064R”; Walker’s “The Viola Speaks for Viola and String Orchestra”; Tchaikovsky’s “Nocturne in D minor”; and J.C. Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in E-flat major, Op. 7, No. 2.
