UW and Wyoming Community Navigator Program to Discuss Search Engine Optimization July 7

People hear the term “SEO” all the time, but what exactly does that entail? Small-business owners can learn more about SEO, or search engine optimization, for their business websites during a webinar Friday, July 7.

Liz Jamieson will present a Wyoming Community Navigator Program (CNP) webinar titled “Search Engine Optimization (SEO) 101” from 11 a.m.-noon. To register, go here. Registration is free.

The Wyoming CNP, through the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network at the University of Wyoming, provides small-business resources and assistance for traditionally underserved entrepreneurs throughout Wyoming.

During the latest Wyoming CNP webinar, Jamieson will talk through techniques for conducting basic keyword research that every business owner should do. She also will review strategies for using good keyword phrases by which small businesses would like to be found online to demonstrate to search engines that their content is relevant so that small-business owners may draw more traffic to their websites. Finally, Jamieson will cover how to set up a Google My Business page and how to use the social media platforms where small businesses have a presence to improve their SEO.

There will be dedicated time for questions and answers so that small-business owners can apply what they’ve learned to improve their own SEO across all platforms.

Jamieson has been coaching, facilitating and training in a variety of environments for decades, including as a Washington SBDC certified business adviser; business coach and program director for a Small Business Administration Women’s Business Center; and manager of corporate training and continuing education for a technical college.

She owned a website design and development firm for many years, where she coached entrepreneurs in branding, sales and marketing. There, she worked on the online presence, collateral and copy for over 100 different small businesses. To build her business, she cold-called entire chamber of commerce directories. Jamieson’s strengths are in technical online marketing, loan packaging, business planning and development, and social media.
