UW Law Dean Search Committee Appointed

A 16-member committee has been appointed to search for the next dean of the University of Wyoming College of Law.

Dean Klint Alexander, who has led the College of Law since 2015, has announced he will return to the faculty at the end of the 2023-24 academic year.

“We appreciate Dean Alexander’s leadership over the past decade,” UW Provost and Executive Vice President Kevin Carman says. “We have assembled an impressive search committee to find his successor, and I thank the members for contributing their time and effort in this important search.”

Co-chairing the committee are College of Business Dean Scott Beaulier and former Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kite.

Other members are:

-- Jesselyn Burroughs, a law student who is the student director of UW’s Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic.

-- State Rep. Barry Crago, R-Buffalo, an attorney and rancher.

-- Joe Evers, a graduate of UW’s College of Law and Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources who works as a regulatory policy adviser with Occidental in Denver, Colo.

-- Zebadiah Hall, UW’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion.

-- Lindsay Hoyt, assistant dean of the College of Law.

-- Mike Massie, a former state legislator and retired UW administrator from Laramie.

-- Lauren McLane, an associate professor in the College of Law and director of UW’s Defender Aid Clinic.

-- Anna Reeves Olson, a UW College of Law graduate, Casper attorney and incoming president of the Wyoming State Bar.

-- Dona Playton, the Dyekman Law Professor in the College of Law and director of UW’s Family and Child Legal Advocacy Clinic.

-- Tawnya Plumb, the head of collections in UW’s Law Library.

-- Jason Robison, a Carl M. Williams Professor of Law and Social Responsibility in the College of Law.

-- Alan Romero, a Carl M. Williams Professor of Law and Social Responsibility in the College of Law and director of UW’s Rural Law Center.

-- Michael Smith, a Carl M. Williams Professor of Law and Ethics in the College of Law and director of the Center for the Study of Written Advocacy.

-- John Stark, president and CEO of the UW Foundation and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

The search process will begin in earnest in August, with a goal of identifying the next dean by late this year or early 2024.
