After being closed for much of the summer, 15th Street has reopened through the University of Wyoming campus.
The street was closed primarily between Lewis Street and Sorority Row as a result of utility work to support the UW’s campus housing project. Additional closures of 15th Street will be necessary during the housing project before its scheduled conclusion in 2025, but none are expected for the remainder of this construction season.
The reopening of 15th Street will allow members of the local community and those visiting for Saturday’s UW-Texas Tech football game to see the progress being made on the housing project, which involves construction of two new residence halls and a new dining facility to enhance the student experience. The project necessitated the closure of the former parking lot east of the Wyoming Union.
No other street closures are in place on the UW campus, although there is construction along both 15th and Ninth streets -- as well as Willett Drive for a major addition to the College of Law Building.
UW’s new Ivinson Parking Garage at Ivinson Avenue and 11th Street is open and provides some public spaces using ParkMobile kiosks for hourly parking. There are no time limits on these spaces, and time may be extended as needed. Parking in the garage is free after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
Visitors to Laramie this weekend can see the locations of street closures and road work in the city on this interactive map maintained by the city of Laramie.
