UW Academic Writing Fellows Program Now Seeking Applicants for 2023-24

Applications for the fourth year of the University of Wyoming Academic Writing Fellows (UWAWF) program are now being accepted.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Sept. 5, and notifications will be made by Friday, Sept. 8. The program will accept up to 10 participants.

The UWAWF program -- coordinated by UW Communication across the Curriculum (CxC) -- promotes greater scholarly productivity through mentoring, retreats, writing groups and other community- and knowledge-building activities.

During the first three years of the program, 30 Fellows -- including scholars affiliated with all seven of UW’s colleges -- generated more than 145 scholarly works. Similar to previous years, this year’s program aims to achieve a valuable blend of participants across colleges, disciplines and levels of experience, says CxC Director Rick Fisher.

CxC, housed within UW LeaRN Programs, supports UW faculty and students in enhancing their written, oral and digital communication. It also provides support for faculty in teaching writing and seeks to promote a vibrant culture of academic and scholarly communication across campus.

“The UWAWF program takes the view that faculty become better teachers of writers, in part, by becoming more aware of their own writing processes and practices,” Fisher says.

UW faculty members interested in learning more about the UWAWF program can find a downloadable application here.
