Wyoming producers interested in hearing from national and international industry experts are encouraged to attend the 28th annual Range Beef Cow Symposium in Loveland, Colo., Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 13-14.

The biennial event is sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service and animal science departments of the University of Wyoming, Colorado State University (CSU), South Dakota State University and the University of Nebraska.

CSU will host this year’s symposium, which will take place at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. The event kicks off with a free pre-symposium Beef Quality Assurance certification workshop Tuesday, Dec. 12.

The symposium begins at 8 a.m. the following day. Speakers will address a variety of timely topics, including consumer drivers of sustainability; marketing of feeder calves; weather and market outlooks; herd health planning; pulmonary arterial pressure testing; and high-altitude disease.

As per tradition, evening “Bull Pen” sessions will offer opportunities for participants to interact with speakers one-on-one.

“The Range Beef Cow Symposium has a long history of being an excellent producer-focused meeting that brings in speakers from across the industry to provide practical production and management information for cattle producers in this region,” says Shelby Rosasco, UW Extension beef specialist.

In addition to featuring prominent speakers, the agenda includes several producer panels centered on hot topic issues and opportunities in the beef cattle industry. The event also will include a trade show with more than 50 vendors.

Virtual attendance and hybrid options are available for those unable to attend in-person events. Registration, which can be completed online, costs $100-$115. High school, undergraduate and graduate students can attend for $75.
