Applicants Sought for UW Presidential Fellows Program

The application period is now open for the 2024-26 Presidential Fellows program at the University of Wyoming.

The purpose of the Presidential Fellows program is to elevate and facilitate faculty-led projects that advance the university.  This program also presents unique leadership opportunities to work with members of President Ed Seidel’s Cabinet and other administrators in addressing challenges and opportunities that will move UW forward.

The celebration and promotion of teaching, research, extension, engagement, innovation, inclusion and service contributions to UW’s mission are a key execution strategy of UW’s 2023+ Strategic Plan, and the Presidential Fellows program contributes to this work. Proposals can be submitted on any topic that relates to the Strategic Plan, but special consideration will be given to the following areas of focus. More information on these areas of focus can be found on the Presidential Fellows webpage.

-- Artificial intelligence (AI): As platforms such as ChatGPT have implications for higher education and grow in terms of use and sophistication, Seidel is seeking a Fellow to lead the university’s efforts to address this emerging technology.

-- Economic development: As UW plays a key part in developing Wyoming’s workforce for existing and emerging industries -- and it is important that the university strive to advance the economic and cultural vitality of the community and the state -- Seidel is seeking a Fellow to liaise with external stakeholders and advance activities under the Wyoming Innovation Partnership and the creative economy.

-- Faculty Leadership Institute: As providing a supportive community is one of UW’s ongoing objectives in the Strategic Plan, the president would like to encourage and promote faculty excellence through the establishment of a Faculty Leadership Institute. He is seeking a Presidential Fellow to develop curriculum and facilitate execution of the institute’s first cohort.

For additional information, including eligibility criteria and benefits, and to submit a proposal, visit the Presidential Fellows webpage. The deadline to submit proposals is Monday, March 11.
