Christine Honein and Jeremy RegerThe University of Wyoming Department of Music will present guest artists Christine Honein, soprano, and Jeremy Reger, piano, performing “A Musical Voyage From Seville to Beirut” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall.

The free public program will feature songs by world composers, including Isaac Albéniz, Georges Bizet, Wajdi Abou Diab, Iyad Kanaan, Jules Massenet, Joaquìn Nin, Richard Pearson Thomas and Eduard Toldrà.

Most recently, Honein performed the roles of the Second Woman and the First Witch in the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado’s production of “Dido and Aeneas.”

Honein made her debut with Eklund Opera in 2017, playing the role of Dalinda in Handel’s “Ariodante,” and later performing the role of Maria in the opera’s production of “West Side Story.” She premiered selections from “Art Songs in Arabic” on poems by Said Akl, set to music by Kanaan, a Lebanese composer. She has appeared in several other productions.

Reger is a vocal coach and head of music staff and choirmaster of Eklund Opera at the University of Colorado-Boulder (CU). He also is music director and coach for CU New Opera Workshop. Additionally, he maintains a busy performing schedule.

Reger previously served as a faculty member at Christopher Newport University and Indiana University. He is on musical staff with such organizations as Music Academy of the West; the National YoungArts program; Opera Studio do Recife in Brazil; and other U.S. operas in Colorado, Hawaii, Minnesota and Oregon. He also has performed with the Virginia Symphony and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
