Small-business owners will have the opportunity to improve their skill sets to start or grow their businesses Thursday, April 18.
Kenny Overby, P.J. Burns and Kassandra Vaughn-Worsley will lead a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network workshop titled “Small Business Skill-Building Workshop -- Cheyenne” from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in Training Room 102 at Laramie County Community College, located at 1400 E. College Drive. To register, go here. Conference registration includes all sessions, a continental breakfast and buffet lunch. The cost is $49.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
“This conference is a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn new business skills from Wyoming business experts on a wide variety of topics,” says Jill Kline, state director of the Wyoming SBDC Network.
Wyoming business experts and Wyoming SBDC Network staff will provide interactive, skill-building sessions addressing a wide range of essential business skills.
The sessions are as follows:
-- “Increase Profits Through Financial Management: Straightforward Cash Flow and Analysis Strategies” and “Creating Compelling Social Media Messaging,” presented by Overby, Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Goshen and Laramie counties. He has 18 years of experience owning and running small businesses. He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs demystify small businesses and enjoy the journey of business ownership.
-- “Develop Your Greatest Asset: Attract and Retain Quality Staff,” presented by Burns, Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties. She also is current board chair for the Powder River Basin Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management.
-- “Setting and Achieving Realistic Business Goals” and “Strategies for a Healthier Work/Life Balance,” presented by Vaughn-Worsley, CEO of SK Media LLC in Pinedale.
