The University of Wyoming Geological Museum will host the annual Fossil Fish Festival Saturday, April 20.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Participants can learn about Wyoming’s state fossil, Knightia, prepare fossil fish, make fossil-inspired bracelets and learn about the fossilization process, along with other activities.
“Come explore the underwater world of prehistoric Wyoming,” says Laura Vietti, museum and collections manager for the UW Geological Museum. “Join us for some kid-friendly, educational and interactive activities highlighting Wyoming’s world-renowned fossil fish deposits from the Green River formation quarried by Kemmerer. We have some brand-new fun activities to try out this year.”
The UW Geological Museum, the UW Science Kitchen and the Wyoming State Geological Survey sponsor the event.
