How blockchain and other innovative technologies will grow Wyoming’s future is the focus of the seventh annual Wyoming Blockchain Stampede Sept. 16-20 at the University of Wyoming.

“Growing Wyoming” is presented by the UW Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation (CBDI) and features top experts in innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics; economic development; startups; fintech; cybersecurity; bitcoin mining; and digital assets, regulation and law.

The week includes a meeting of the Wyoming Legislature’s Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology; the UW College of Business Career Fair; the second Wyoming Computing Symposium: “Data Analytics and Computing Advances for Drone Applications (DACADA)”; a meeting of the Wyoming Stable Token Commission; and the Stampede eSports Meetup and Competition.

All events are free and open to the public except for the Wyoming Computing Symposium, which will require a registration fee. To register for the stampede, visit www.uwyo.edu/stampede. For more information about the Wyoming Computing Symposium, visit www.uwyo.edu/soc/news-events/events/wyoming-computing-symposium-2024.html.

Also, during the week, the CBDI Bitcoin Mining Initiative will host the Bitcoin Mining & Energy Summit with representatives of the bitcoin mining industry and energy sector.

Among featured speakers will be UW alumna Caitlin Long, CEO and founder of Custodia Bank in Cheyenne, which specializes in digital asset payment and custody solutions for U.S. businesses; Gov. Mark Gordon; Matt Fields, CEO of Cheyenne-based VMAccel, a global AI infrastructure and platform company; Anthony Apollo, Wyoming Stable Token Commission executive director; UW President Ed Seidel; Wyoming State Sen. Chris Rothfuss, who is co-chair of the Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology; Julie Hill, UW College of Law dean; and Steve Lupien, CBDI executive director.

“Thanks to the Wyoming Legislature and Gov. Mark Gordon, Wyoming has become a worldwide leader in laws laying the groundwork for creating and applying blockchain and other innovative technologies,” Lupien says. “The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede is not only a celebration of what has been accomplished, but a recognition of achievements at the University of Wyoming and of innovators around the state. This year, the stampede will examine how innovation and imagination are catalysts for growing Wyoming.”

The title sponsor of the stampede is IOG. Other sponsors include Custodia Bank, Microsoft and VMAccel.
