Small-business owners will have an opportunity to learn about cybersecurity requirements for federal contracting Wednesday, June 12.
Kareem Sykes will discuss the subject during a joint Wyoming APEX Accelerator and Project Spectrum webinar titled “Cybersecurity Requirements for Government Contracting with Project Spectrum” from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free.
Wyoming APEX Accelerator, part of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network housed at the University of Wyoming, is the state’s expert in government contracting assistance. Montana APEX Accelerator and Project Spectrum will present the webinar, with Wyoming APEX Accelerator providing marketing support.
The webinar will provide an overview of Project Spectrum support and resources and an overview of cybersecurity requirements. Project Spectrum is a U.S. Department of Defense-recognized cybersecurity awareness initiative that offers resources, training and tools to increase cybersecurity awareness for businesses.
Topics will include the current cyberthreat landscape; why small businesses are lucrative targets; government guidance, mandates and requirements; Project Spectrum’s cybersecurity advisory services, training courses and proprietary cybersecurity tool development; and engagement with Project Spectrum.
In addition to managing Project Spectrum, Sykes is founder, managing partner and director of project management and operations for FTS Consulting Group, an engineering and technical services firm based in Bowie, Md.
