Prakash Gupta, consul general of India, based in Seattle, visited the University of Wyoming Tuesday, June 4, to meet with UW administrators, faculty members and students to learn more about current research and programming and how the consulate can support academic and cultural events at the university.
Conversations centered on areas for collaboration among UW, the state of Wyoming and India.
Gupta met with Holly Krutka, executive director of UW’s School of Energy Resources, to discuss energy industry connections between Wyoming and India. While talking with Kevin Carman, UW provost and executive vice president, and Caroline McCracken-Flesher, director of UW’s Center for Global Studies, Gupta proposed Indian cultural celebrations and faculty enrichment projects.
Highlights of the visit included a demonstration of the 3D Visualization Center with Krutka and a tour of the Science Initiative Building with Parag Chitnis, UW’s vice president for research and economic development, and several UW students from India.
Before leaving campus, Gupta, students and faculty members gathered for a meal in the Cheney International Center.
Gupta is visiting states serviced by the recently established Consulate General of India in Seattle.
