Ivinson/15th Street Intersection to Reopen for UW Move-In Day

The intersection of 15th Street and Ivinson Avenue will be open for the University of Wyoming’s move-in day Friday, Aug. 16, kicking off a series of access improvements for UW students, employees and the public through the fall semester along the key central campus corridor.

The intersection of 15th and Ivinson has been closed since March 7 for installation of deep utility infrastructure for UW’s housing project and construction of a new roundabout that has transformed the intersection near the heart of campus.

With the intersection opening Friday, move-in day will proceed largely as usual, with 30-minute parking available at multiple locations around UW’s existing residence halls. To view the move-in day map, click here.

For the week of Saddle Up, UW’s onboarding program for first-year students, a pedestrian crossing for students in the residence halls to access campus west of 15th Street will be available just south of the new roundabout. For the start of the spring semester Monday, Aug. 26, another pedestrian crossing of 15th Street is expected to be open at Sorority Row.

While 15th Street currently is closed from Ivinson Avenue to Willett Drive, the street is expected to be open from Ivinson to Fraternity/Sorority Row around the third week of September.

The rest of 15th Street is scheduled to be open by the start of the spring semester, following construction of a new roundabout at the Willett Drive intersection.

UW’s housing project involves construction of two new residence halls and a new dining facility west of 15th Street to enhance the student experience. The first new residence hall and dining facility are scheduled for occupancy in the fall 2025 semester, with the second open for the spring 2026 semester.

Access issues caused by additional construction projects will be resolved in the fall semester as well.

An expansion and renovation of UW’s College of Law Building is largely complete, and parking and pedestrian obstructions are scheduled to be removed in coming days and weeks.

A major utility project near Hoyt, Ross, Knight and Merica halls is nearing completion, and the Ross/Knight alley is expected to reopen by the third week in September. The Merica Hall parking area is scheduled to reopen by the start of the fall semester.
